As a homeowner, you know that regular vacuuming will help to keep your floors looking their best. Buying the right vacuum and maintaining it for ultimate performance will ensure that your STAINMASTER® carpet stays clean and comfortable for years to come.
When buying a vacuum, look for standards of performance. To help homeowners choose from the many makes and models, the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) developed its Indoor Air Quality Testing Program to identify vacuums that do the following three tasks well:
Return Home |

Remove soil |
Contain dust within the filtration bag, keeping it out of the air |
Do not damage the carpet and help to maintain its appearance |
To keep your vacuum working properly, CRI also offers these maintenance tips:
Keep vacuum brushes clean |
Inspect belts frequently to ensure that they are working correctly |
Change the vacuum bag when it is half full. If the bag becomes too full, soil removal efficiency is reduced |
To identify a vacuum that has passed the test, look for the CRI indoor air quality label on approved machine packaging. |
