Privacy Statement | Our
Global Information Privacy Policy
Welcome to STAINMASTER.com. We at INVISTA are committed to maintaining the
privacy and security of the Personal Information of all the visitors to this
web site. As a part of that commitment, INVISTA is in the process of
implementing our updated Privacy Policy and Information Privacy Statements
to reflect the current needs of our visitors to know what information about
them we collect, why we collect it, and where it goes. We encourage you to
read this Information Privacy Statement and our Global Information Privacy Policy.
At this web site, INVISTA collects information in four ways:
First, we passively collect information that is
automatically sent to us by your web browser. This information typically
includes your domain name (the site after the @ in your e-mail address). It
may also contain your user name (the name you are known as before the @ in
your e-mail address). The amount of information sent depends on the settings
you have on your web browser; please refer to your browser if you want to
learn what information it sends.
We use the information we automatically receive
from your web browser to see which pages you visit within our site, which site
you visited before coming to ours, and where you go after you leave. We at INVISTA
can then develop statistics that are very helpful to understanding how
this site is used by our visitors. This statistical data is interpreted by INVISTA
in its continuing effort to present the web site content that customers
are seeking in a format they find most helpful.
Second, we may actively obtain information about
you by installing our own marker on your computer. This marker is commonly
called a "cookie" and it enables us to know you by a
computer-generated, unique identifier. By providing you a unique identifier,
we are able to create a database of your previous choices and preferences, and
in situations where these choices or preferences need to be collected again,
they can be supplied by us automatically, saving you time and effort. For
example, after you purchase a product once, if you need to purchase it again,
your previous selections for size, color or other features will have been
retained, and can be reentered more quickly. Your computer may be specially
configured to reject cookies; please refer to your browser for more
information.
In addition, INVISTA uses pixels, or transparent GIF files, to help manage online
advertising. These GIF files are provided by our ad management partner, DoubleClick. These
files enable DoubleClick to recognize a unique cookie on your Web browser, which in turn
enables us to learn which advertisements bring users to our website. The cookie was
placed by us, or by another advertiser who works with DoubleClick. With both cookies and
Spotlight technology, the information that we collect and share is anonymous and not
personally identifiable. It does not contain your name, address, telephone number, or
email address. For more information about DoubleClick, including information about how
to opt out of these technologies, go to[http://www.doubleclick.net/us/corporate/privacy].
Third, we collect information at this page when
you contact us or respond to the surveys, questionnaires or applications we
make available. If you e-mail us, you are voluntarily releasing information to
us. If you answer questions we have placed on the page, you are also
voluntarily releasing that information to us. (You may decide not to answer
any questions; if you do, you may still continue your visit, but we may elect
not to provide you the related services or features.) All computer-generated
information, such as your e-mail address, may be used or shared with INVISTA
affiliates, third parties and/or transmitted to another country. An example of
a third party that could receive your Personal Information is a data
processing contractor that operates computer systems on our behalf.
Whenever any data is transferred to a third party, that party will be
contractually bound to abide by our privacy policy.
Fourth, if you enter into a transaction, such as
a purchase, from this page, we will collect information needed to complete the
transaction, including your name, your shipping address, your product
selection(s), and your payment information. We do not save any credit or other
payment information longer than is necessary in order to comply with the law
and auditing requirements.
INVISTA may use any of the information gathered
at the STAINMASTER.com(other
than credit information) for any legal purpose. For example, we may use the
information for direct marketing. We may analyze it for historical,
statistical or scientific purposes, or we may store it for your convenience
should you return to this page in the future. In the course of any of these
activities, we may transmit the information to another country and/or share it
with third parties. We may also use it to investigate security breaches or
cooperate with authorities pursuant to a legal matter.
In addition, we may have collected similar
information from you in the past. By agreeing to the terms of our privacy
policy you are consenting to our continued use of previously collected
information.
For your convenience, this page may contain
certain hyperlinks to other INVISTA pages as well as to sites outside INVISTA.
While INVISTA has posted an appropriate Information Privacy Statement
throughout our web sites, we can make no promises or guarantees regarding data
collection on the hyperlinked pages and sites that are not owned by INVISTA. We
